Rachael's Women's Center honors The Midtown Group owner

Rachael's women's Center honored The Midtown Group's owner and president Helen Stefan Moreau on May 21. Recipient of the Outstanding Board Member award, Moreau utilized her diverse skills to assist Rachael's in raising the funds it needs to help women experiencing homelessness.

The awards ceremony is part of Rachael’s annual open house, an excellent chance for the public to learn about Rachael's work and opportunities to volunteer or donate. The evening began with a casual dinner donated by local restaurants and followed with time to explore the center and chat with Rachael's staff and the women they have helped. Afterwards, attendees watched performances by some of Rachael's women and honored outstanding volunteers with an awards ceremony.

In addition to the Outstanding Board Member award, several other recognitions were presented. Mount Vernon United Methodist Church Young Adult Group was given the Helping Hands award for its long-term relationship with the center. The Good Neighbors award was given to Nixon Peabody, LLP. The Pay it Forward award, which honors a woman who has stepped out of homelessness and continues to support the center, went to Zoe C. Wood. The Building Bridges Award, which is given to individuals who help fill the center’s needs by finding partnerships in the community, went to Lt. Michael Giles of Dream to Reality Foundation. The Partners in Progress award went given to Zonta Club of Washington, DC.

Rachael’s Women’s Center is a 501 (c) (3) charitable non-profit organization.  The center is designed to help women living on the streets to make a smooth transition to independent living in supportive housing. The Midtown Group has been a sponsor of the center for 12 years.
